Dr. O’Reardon has been in practice as a psychiatrist for 27 years. In his clinical work as a faculty member at Penn he focused on treatment-resistant mood disorders and neuromodulation. The latter is the development of brain devices to stimulate the brain and treat mood disorders. These devices, which are increasing all the time, include transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), deep brain stimulation (DBS), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), EEG-synchronized TMS (sTMS), deep TMS (dTMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS).
